Brand Story

Geberit’s story began in 1874, when Albert Gebert founded a small plumbing business in Rapperswil, Switzerland. In 1905, the brand took its first major step on its innovative journey in the sanitary industry by developing the wood-cased “Phoenix” cistern, one of the first cisterns manufactured in Switzerland.

Having developed the plastic cistern in 1952 and the concealed cistern in 1964, Geberit gradually became an international brand offering sanitary ceramics, bathroom furniture, installation systems and water management solutions. Today, Geberit is among Europe’s leading brands in sanitary products.

Geberit brings washbasins, toilets, bathroom furniture and visible bathroom products together with cistern and installation technologies operating behind the wall. In this way, it offers holistic bathroom solutions in which design, hygiene, user comfort and technical functionality are considered together.
